Room Makeover and Tour!

Back In June I decided to re-do my room as it was starting to look a little tired and dull. It had been a few years since I painted it and I was bored of my wallpaper. When I last decorated I went for shabby chic kinda vibe. This time it was Pinterest boards and Ideas that helped me! I had an Idea of what I wanted, then I found the wallpaper from Next Home and it inspired every other aspect of the room.

Here are some before photos from before (Sorry about the mess! I forgot to take pictures and had to take them while I was packing all of my stuff out of the way)

This is the before and after of the spare room during the decorating process. We moved the day bed from my room to the spare room as I got myself a new double bed. It made sense to move it as it folds away.

Also can we take a minute to spot the cats haha! Around the same time my cat has kittens, they loved all of the mess and used it as a huge play area.

The wallpaper was up, carpet down, painted and shelves hung! I chose the cream and gold wallpaper as I love the pattern of it. Then I painted the rest of my walls a matching cream to blend it all together nicely. The carpet is a pale grey/silver which really adds light to the room and blends in nicely with the walls. I have had cream carpet before but it would have looked dull against the colour choices.

Here are a few photos at night time as I think it looks so cosy! I decided to incorporate lots of fairy lights and pillows to really add comfort.

This is my favourite area of my room as I have all of my favourite photos and all of my makeup looking neat and organised which makes me so happy. I also have a few teddy's above my wardrobe which are mostly all from my boyfriend and they make me smile every time I see them.

I have this shelving unit with some decorations on. On the top I have a Disney print, my succulent garden surrounded my my gems that I have collected and some of my cactus. This was to add some nature into my room which I love seeing. In the top cupboard I keep beauty products. Next to it I have some tusms tusms a jewellery holder and another gem. Below i have my vinyl collection and then some photos next to that of me and my boyfriend and then me and my grandad.
Below I have some lush bath bombs and then other storage boxes full of stuff.

I used a large scratch off map as a feature point and to break up the wallpaper. I got a frame from Ikea and hung it on the wall, I took out the glass so that it doesn't glare and it also means it can still be used to scratch off places you visit. As my room did have a lot of larger pieces of furniture I decided to get a headboard that had shelves either side and space on top to be used as a side table. This takes up less room and also adds more storage to a smaller space. My room is quite big but I didn't want it to feel cramped. I used a stool that I already had as a table for my record player. I placed this at an angle at the side of my bed closest to the wall as I couldn't do much there anyway. On the opposite side I used a cart on wheels as a side table which again adds more storage but... It can be moved around so it doesn't take up space like a fixed table would. I can move it out of the way to access the draws under my wardrobe but also it doesn't get in the way of the doors so it is practical. These are both great multi-purpose ways to be useful and also not get in the way.

On my headboard I used two different lamps in different textures to add more colour and shape to the room. I do like symmetry but It can be a little repetitive so having something like different lamps can break up the blocks of colour. I also used this opportunity to bring in some different metal shades as I didn't want it to be just gold.

On my shelves I have kept it pretty basics, I have a framed print and some books in a stack with my cactus neatly places. This helps to add depth so everything looks spaced out instead of all being at the same level. On the shelf below I have some vases that I spray painted in different patterns so they are unique and a photo holder with a few photos on it.

A close up of the trolly I use as a side table, I also store makeup, notebooks and things I need for bed in here.

Adding things like candles and reed defusers can add an element of class to a space while also keeping it smelling lovely. This brings in elements of wood and also metals.

Fairy lights have a huge part in my room as I love to turn them on at night time and really settle down and get snuggly. I got a variety of types to again add some colour and textures with the different shapes. I chose some cream and pink ones as those are the main colours that you can see.

My orchid had to stay as I have kept her alive for 4/5 years now, I don't know how as I rarely water her and she seems to last longer that way. She also sits above my radiator on a windowsill that gets a lot of sun so I don't know if that contributes! I did however get her a new pot which is actually a candle cover but it still looks pretty.

On my wall above my desk I hung some fair lights that came with little clips to hang polaroids. I have just placed some of my favourites so that I can see them everyday.

Last but not least, I incorporated some of my disney obsession into my room with a few prints of old style pictures. I placed them in simple white frames around my room and I think they add a nice touch.
